Abstract
Most maxillofacial lesions are treated surgically which can have a large impact on patient function. The elucidation of the biologic basis and mutational profile of many of these lesions has led to the development of directed medical treatments. Several medical treatments have now been applied as adjunctive treatment to lessen treatment morbidity with the ultimate goal to eliminate the need for an operation.
Learning Objectives
1). Understand updates in the surgical management of benign maxillofacial lesions
2). Identify molecular or genetic assessments of regularly encountered benign maxillofacial lesions
3). Describe existing and potential medical adjunctive treatment options for benign maxillofacial lesions
