Reconstructive Options Focusing on Regeneration
Abstract
Reconstructive surgery has gone through incredible advances in the past two decades. Research in regenerative medicine is incorporating these advances to be able to meet the challenges of increasingly complex defects in the craniomaxillofacial skeleton. This presentation will review these advances and a look toward future challenges with composite defects.
Learning Objectives
- The learner will appreciate the challenges of a variety of bone defects
- The impact of reconstruction on a patients quality of life
- The learner will understand how 3d modelling and custom implants are being incorportated in. modern reconstruction and how these lessons are being applied to prefabricated flap models
