David Urbanek, DMD
Dr. David Urbanek grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and completed his Bachelor’s Degree at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) in Cleveland. He earned a Master’s Degree with honors in Anatomy at CWRU, then went on to graduate at the top of his class at the CWRU School of Dental Medicine. He completed his four-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign/Urbana, Illinois. During his time at CWRU, he has served as a teaching assistant for medical, dental, and graduate students in the anatomical sciences. He has held a faculty appointment at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Department of Surgery, and currently teaches dental students at the A.T. Still University Missouri School of Dental and Oral Health. He has authored several chapters in various Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery textbooks, and lectures to the dental and medical community.
Michael Backer, DMD
Dr. Michael Backer grew up in Chesterfield, MO and graduated from DeSmet Jesuit High School. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Purdue University. He then completed his Master’s Degree in Medical Physics from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. Backer earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from Midwestern University in 2012, and then completed his 4 year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the University of Tennessee in Memphis. While in school, Dr. Backer was a board member for the American Student Dental Association. He is also currently an associate professor at A.T. Still University Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health.
Shenan Bradshaw, DDS, MD
Dr. Shenan Bradshaw grew up in North Carolina and attended the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill for her undergraduate studies. She stayed at UNC for dental school and earned her D.D.S. degree in 2012.
While in dental school, she discovered her passion for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and decided to pursue a residency in OMFS at Emory University. As part of her residency program, she attended Emory University School of Medicine and graduated with her M.D. in 2015. She then completed a one-year general surgery internship before completing her oral surgery residency. During her final year of OMFS residency, she served as the administrative chief resident of the program.
During her residency, Dr. Bradshaw was trained in treating diverse patient populations including children and the elderly. She enjoys practicing all aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery including dentoalveolar surgery, trauma, treatment of benign cysts and tumors of the head and neck, reconstructive bone grafting, implants, temporomandibular joint disorders, and orthognathic surgery.
Scott A. Drooger, DDS
Dr. Scott Drooger grew up in Holland, Michigan and earned his Bachelors of Arts Degree from Hope College. After his undergraduate work he was accepted to the University of Michigan School of Dentistry where he graduated in 1997. Dr. Drooger then went on to complete a one-year General Practice Residency at Denver Health Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. After he completed his GPR, Dr. Drooger moved across the country to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he was accepted to the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program at St. Francis Medical Center. Dr. Drooger completed his residency in 2002. He has practiced full-time in both Indiana and Michigan. He joined Midwest Oral Maxillofacial & Implant Surgery in the Fall of 2009.
Dr. Drooger is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He is also a Fellow in the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Drooger is a member of American Dental Association, Missouri Dental Association, Greater St. Louis Dental Society, St. Louis Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral Implantology, International Congress of Oral Implantologists, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Donald C. Hofheins, DDS, MD
Dr. Donald Hofheins grew up in Chillicothe, Missouri and earned his Bachelors Degree at Southwest Missouri State University. He obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Missouri School of Dentistry in Kansas City. Following dental school, Dr. Hofheins joined the Army and completed a one-year general practice residency at Fort Carson, Colorado. He practiced general dentistry in the Army for six years with assignments in Germany and Texas. Dr. Hofheins completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.
After his formal training Dr. Hofheins remained in the Army teaching his specialty to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residents. His teaching career culminated as Program Director of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He moved back to his home state to retire from military service at Fort Leonard Wood and joined Midwest Oral Maxillofacial & Implant Surgery in 2005.
Dr. Hofheins is board certified, a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He is also a member of the American Dental Association and the Missouri Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Jeffrey Kratky, DMD
Dr. Jeffrey Kratky grew up in St. Louis and earned a degree in biology at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. He was then accepted to Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine where he graduated in 1994. Dr. Kratky completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. In addition to extensive training in dentoalveolar surgery and general anesthesia, his four year surgical training included facial trauma, reconstruction, dento-facial deformities, and obstructive sleep apnea.
Dr. Kratky is board certified in oral surgery and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He has been in practice in the St. Louis area since 1998 and joined Midwest Oral Maxillofacial & Implant Surgery in 2007. Dr. Kratky served a three year term as chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at St. Anthony’s Hospital. He also served as president of the South County District as well as being a member on the Board of The Greater St. Louis Dental Society. Jaw reconstruction, implant surgery, and wisdom teeth removal are his surgical interests.
Michael Parsons, DDS
Dr. Michael Parsons grew up in Cape Girardeau and earned his Bachelors Degree at Southeast Missouri State University. He obtained his Dental Doctorate from the University of Missouri – Kansas City, School of Dentistry. Following dental school, Dr. Parsons completed a one-year general practice residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was then accepted to the Medical College of Georgia in the specialized field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Parsons is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, Missouri Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and has been the past president of the St. Louis Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Parsons is an evaluator for the State of Missouri for office-based anesthesia.
Rishad Shaikh, DMD, FACS
Dr. Rishad Shaikh was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. He received his undergraduate training in Biology and Psychology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Afterwards, he moved on to the Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine. Upon successful completion of dental school, Dr. Shaikh obtained his initial training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery through and internship at West Virginia University. Dr. Shaikh then completed a 4 year residency in OMS at West Virginia University.
Following his residency, Dr. Shaikh traveled to St. Louis to complete a year long full scope OMS Fellowship at Mercy Medical Center. Upon completion of the fellowship he returned to Cleveland where he taught Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Metro Health in affiliation with Case Western’s residency training.
He returned to St. Louis in 2015, where he has been in private practice since. Dr. Shaikh is licensed to practice Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Missouri and is on staff at Mercy Medical Center, and St. Anthony’s Medical Center.
