Following two years of exceptional leadership, Peter K. Moy, DMD, has completed his term as Chair of Osteo Science Foundation. Since May 2016, Dr. Moy has helped further our mission to advance hard and soft tissue regeneration with a focus on Oral and CranioMaxillofacial surgery in the United States and Canada.
Under Dr. Moy’s chairmanship, OSCF had many significant accomplishments. In 2017, OSCF held the first independent education symposium in Miami, which was followed by a collaborative meeting with the New York State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (NYSSOMS) at their annual conference in New York City in May this year.
Over the course of his two-year term, OSCF named:
- Seven new Peter Geistlich Research Award recipients
- Three new Philip J. Boyne Faculty Research Award recipients
- Three new Resident Research Award recipients
Throughout Dr. Moy’s term, OSCF has supported American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) with Travel Awards to attend meetings and conferences. In the last two years, OSCF granted Travel Awards to four AAOMS events: the AAOMS Clinical Trials and Methods Course in May 2016; the 98th AAOMS Annual Meeting in September 2016; the AAOMS CSIOMS Meeting in April 2017; and the 99th Annual AAOMS Meeting in October 2017.
Outside of his work with OSCF, Dr. Moy is a clinical professor of Oral and CranioMaxillofacial surgery in the Division of Diagnostic and Surgical Sciences at the UCLA School of Dentistry and treats patients both at UCLA and in his private practice located in Brentwood, California. He is the first person to hold the Nobel Biocare Endowed Chair in Surgical Implant Dentistry at UCLA. He also serves as the Director of the UCLA Dental Implant Center and the Straumann Surgical Dental Clinic.
