Dr. McMahon was born and raised in the Sonoma Valley of California with two older sisters. As a youth, Alex played competitive soccer year round and participated in a wide variety of leadership roles (including ASB President) at St. Vincent de Paul High School. Dr. McMahon continued his education at the University of California, Davis where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior. During his undergraduate years, Dr. McMahon participated in basic science research within the department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery within the School of Veterinary Medicine. Immediately after achieving his Bachelor’s in Science, Dr. McMahon began his dental education at the UCLA School of Dentistry and ultimately graduated with the Dean’s Medal Award for outstanding leadership and academic excellence. Dr. McMahon was then offered a position to continue at the UCLA Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency program during which he also obtained a medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. McMahon’s post-graduate surgical internship at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center offered unique opportunities to provide individual care for the region’s most medically complex patients under the specialties of Anesthesiology, General Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Vascular Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Urologic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Renal Transplant Surgery, and Orthopaedic-Trauma Surgery.
