Dr. Joy Chen was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Anatomy & Cell Biology from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. She moved back to the Pacific Northwest to obtain her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of British Columbia, where she discovered her passion for oral and maxillofacial surgery during her hospital and OMFS rotations. Dr. Chen then made the move to New York City after matching into the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program at Columbia University Medical Center – New York Presbyterian Hospital where she served as the Chief Resident. During her training, she also obtained her Medical Degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Medical Honor Society for her academic achievement, professionalism, and leadership. Her interests include orthognathic surgery, reconstructive surgery, and implantology with emphasis on complex soft and hard tissue augmentation and virtual surgical planning / digital implant dentistry. She is excited to be part of the Clinical Observership Program and looks forward to expanding her training on implantology and soft/hard tissue management.
