Dr. Spatafora was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. He studied biomedical science at York University before attending dental school at the University of Toronto. His research in dental school on controlled release and enhancement of BMP-2 earned him several awards as well as solidified his interest in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. After dental school, he completed an internship at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY. Following the internship, he matched into Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York, NY. Dr. Spatafora is interested in full scope Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with an emphasis on complex dental implantology, hard and soft tissue regeneration, orthognathic surgery, trauma, cosmetics, and virtual surgical planning/digital dentistry. Outside of residency he enjoys running, swimming, exploring NYC with his co-residents, and going home to Toronto for his Italian grandmother’s cooking.
