Chi T. Viet DDS, MD, PhD

Dr. Chi T. Viet is a surgeon scientist who studies epigenetic mechanisms of head and neck carcinogenesis and the neurobiological basis of symptoms faced by head and neck cancer patients. Her goal is to develop epigenetic biomarkers for early head and neck cancer detection, as well as to use patient-specific epigenetic markers to design effective treatments for head and neck cancer metastasis and pain. She has shown that methylation of key genes controls head and neck cancer metastasis, pain, and chemotherapy resistance. By targeting these key genes she has designed therapies to reduce rates of metastasis and chemotherapy resistance. Dr. Viet’s clinical practice is focused on head and neck oncology and microvascular reconstruction. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Loma Linda University.
