Dr. Martin B. Steed is currently Professor and James B. Edwards Endowed Chair at MUSC College of Dental Medicine, Dept. Of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Steed attended the University Of Buffalo School Of Dental Medicine, completed an Oral Medicine residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was carried out at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Steed began his professional career at the Emory University School of Medicine in 2004 where he was the Residency Program Director and Chief at Emory University Midtown Hospital. In 2013 he moved to his present position as Professor and Chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina. He is a Director of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He has served on AAOMS committees focused on education and training (CET), the committee on dental accreditation (CODA) as review committee member and has held leadership roles within the IADR/AADR, AACMFS, ADEA, OMSNIC, and state level society leadership in both Georgia and South Carolina.
